Bee Tips

During one flight, a bee travels an average of 3 km to find a nectar or honeydew source,

however if necessary, it can be even up to 6 km, but then it gets more tired and dies faster. So if the area around your hive consists of predominantly gardens dominated by thuyas, paving stones and low-cut lawns, and there are not enough flowers... well, the bees will struggle to carry out their mission, taking long tiring flights and returning to the hive with minimal forage.
If you want to help them:
- plant honey-growing plants which bloom in August, like cornflowers, heathers, phacelia, clover, Himalayan balsam. These flowers are not only pleasing to the eye, but they allow the bees to take some rest!
- don’t mow your laws too often ☺
– uncut grass retains more moisture and reduces air temperature.
- make sure that the drinkers are full of water - so that the bees do not have to fly far for water during this difficult period.
